Yes... I am back from melbourne after 4 days...
day 1: had to wake up early and drive down to anna's house so that i could park there... she found a korean shuttle bus which would take us from her house to the airport which was good but expensive... when we arrived at melbourne... we caught an airport shuttle to the city and from there, found out that they have a free shuttle service which would bring us to the hostel... which was good... when we got to the hostel... it was certainly not what i had expected and seen from the pictures on the website... it was quite eerie looking and there was this really bad smell along the corridor... and the thing was and i learnt my lesson, always bring your own bedsheet and pillowcase if you are staying in hostels... luckily anna brought one so we shared... put our stuff down and went to meet up with suet ming... she brought us around, ate lunch at this jap place and i ordered the unagi don... which was quite reasonably priced and quite nice actually... after that, we caught the free city tram ride around the city... and walked to sofitel, where the conference was held... it was like a half hour walk from the hostel... it did not look that far when i saw it on the map though... thank god i brought walking shoes... and for the past 3 nights, i have been sleeping at 9am sharp... i don't think i have ever slept so early before... and needless to say, i did not have a good sleep every night too...
day 2: conference day 1... it was anna's presentation day so we went early to set things up, and there were quite alot of people at the venue when we arrived... the first day was quite interesting... and the hotel was supposedly one of the higher classed ones, but in my opinion, it was only ok... not like grand looking or anything... oh and when we went there on the first day to check it out... i was telling anna and suet ming that it was so upsetting that everyday we have to walk from our really sadlooking accomodation to the high class stretch where hotels like westin, hyatt and boutique shops like gucci were and then have to walk from the high class place back to our hostel... i was embarrassed every time someone asked where we were staying in... haha... anyway, the lunch was not good, but the morning tea was good, they had brownies for morning tea... and bcos we were quite cheap skate... we decided to gorge on the food served during the welcome reception as our dinner... so we just stood outside the kitchen and waited for them to bring out the trays haha... typical singaporean kiasuism i would say...
day 3: conference day 2... it was my turn to present the poster that day... ohmigod, both shoes which i brought to the conference really hurt my toes and feet so badly, that at the end of the day, i had to change out of them... and they were low heels... anyway, the second day was much more boring... cos on the first day, we have already been to all the different stalls and collected all the freebies like pens!!!, waterbottles, etc... and the food on the second day was worse... so i did not really eat much... and seriously the shoes from URS were killing me... thankfully, the conference ended earlier on the second day, so anna and i decided to put our stuff down and walk around the city... went to look for toys... then went to chinatown... i remembered hearing people say that the food at chinatown is nice but they were all restaurants, so we did not eat there... however, i did find an ice cream place which sells ice cream for $3.90 for 3 scoops... how good is that??!! i have never seen that price ever for 3 scoops of ice cream... i was very excited... walked to the riverside... and i was physically exhausted after walking for like 2 hours... and anna wanted to keep on going... let's just say that i was not feeling too friendly towards her at that point... and we got lost too... so anyway, finally arrived back at our hostel... and i was so tired... and that was the end of the conference... i did not really get questions regarding my study, more like comments...
day 4: we slept in that day... and after that, decided that we had to check in online rather than queue, so we went to look for an internet cafe... after that, went to queen victoria market... and it was packed... there were so many people... and i remembered that i went there before, with mum and pong previously when we joined the tour... there were quite alot of things to see... but i could not buy stuff cos my bag was so full already... and being the cheap skate that we are, we bought the carry on baggage only tickets... so we could not carry more stuff... after that, we were quite tired already but we still had time to spare before going to the airport, so we decided to walk to the city again... then anna suggested going to borders... so i just sat there and read books... while anna went somewhere... seriously, there was so many asians... every where you turn, i could hear people speaking korean and chinese... finally it was time to catch the bus to the airport... when we arrived at the airport, we were quite early, so we had to wait for another 2 hours in the airport... and the flight was delayed for god knows why... and we saw one of our uni lecturers catching the same flight as us...
when we landed in sydney, it was already 10am... and anna's friend came and picked us up... and i know i probably should not complain bcos if it was not for him, we would probably have to catch a cab or a train... but he did not know the way to anna's house, we did not realise that we have to prepay the ticket at the carpark... and he could not remember where he parked... so we were walking around for awhile... and i was carrying my heavy bag all over the place... alamak... by the time we got out of the airport, it was like 1020pm already... and then we got lost on the way to her house, which was like another hour wasted driving in god knows where... so by the time we finally arrived at her house, it was like 1115pm... and poor andrea... being so tired and hot... it was so hot yesterday when we arrived... had to drive home for another half hour... i was exhausted mentally and physically by the time i got back...
and it's back to reality again...

OT AUstralia coNfeReNce...
6 SEpt was Auris's birthday... but of course, it had to rain like shit... and the shitty thing was... i dunno what possessed me to go for this paeds interview at St Ives... to work with this boy who has autism... but dunno whether I got the position yet... actually now that I think abt it, I am still half hearted about this position... but let's see how things go... can't believe I am flying to melbourne this wed already... it felt like so far away when i submitted the abstract at the beginning of the year... hopefully everything goes well at the conference... and i get to meet and interact with people... unlike the WFOT, when i went alone and I know nobody there... so hopefully people are interested in my study and i get to meet authors whose work i am using for my study...
2 more months to go before the thesis is due... can't believe i have spent 1.5 years working on it and the finishing line is in 2 months' time... and anna has almost finished hers... seriously she is making me stressed... which is good and bad i guess... cos i really procrastinate ALOT... Jiayou (x3)... not long to go...

Suay man...
today is one of my most 'suay' and embarrasing days... bcos guess what, bcos today was rubbish collection day so the bin was outside and this morning, i went to throw the rubbish, so i went out in my pyjamas, threw the rubbish in the bin, and walked back to the house, and to my horror, the door was LOCKED!!!! i was so horrified that it did not even register at first that I have been locked out of the house bcos of my stupidity, i must have unconsciously and out of habit turned the lock when i went out and closed the door, without even thinking abt it... i started to panic, thinking this could not be happening, i have nothing on me, no phone, i am in my pyjamas, and i can't remember anyone's number... i really started to panic badly... ran to the neighbour across from us hoping that they would let me use their internet and phone to find prisy's work number, but no one was in... then went to the one on the left of us, and thank god someone was at home, the neighbour was really nice... he let me use the computer to find prisy's work number and his phone to call her... and i was soooo embarrassed... the whole time i was sitting there, thinking what an idiot i was... so finally prisy was able to come home and open the door for me... and i was like thinking thank god she works nearby, otherwise i am so dead... and i was walking around in my pyjamas... it was really a shitty morning for me... i still cannot believe my stupidity...

生日快乐。。。
this year's birthday was not as exciting and happening as the previous two years... spent the day watching my 命中 what else... and then prisy and mich suggested that we go out for dinner in the city... so i suggested going to my fav spicy beef place in chinatown... toufic and steve came along too... after dinner, we went for dessert at passionflower... i ate my waffles... was actually tossing up between the waffles and the brownies thing but went for the waffles in the end...
i would be lying if i said i was not disappointed with this year's non-happening birthday but i guess everybody's busy with their pracs... but i was still glad that people remembered my birthday... now i am sounding like 陈欣怡。。。 haha... i guess this year's birthday wish is 1) to be able to graduate with first class honours, 2) get a job that i enjoy doing, 3) family is healthy and well, 4) get PR and 5) be able to go home... i prob should say wishes :)
attended the careers fair today at uni... i actually enjoyed the fair today, cos the reps were really helpful and friendly, and of course, got free stuff to collect... but the only thing was i wished that they have a variety of employers rather than just mostly occ rehab providers... i am actually interested in doing a prac in occ rehab to gain some work experience so hopefully i can do one after the mental health placement...

i felt like smacking myself today... went for the hazard perception test to get my green Ps... and i actually failed the first time... and it was not even difficult... seriously, i don't know what I am thinking the whole time i was doing the test... and when they told me that i can choose to take the second time on the spot... i decided to do it again, but of course, i have to pay again... so all in all... i can only blame myself for wasting my time and money cos i am such a loser... :(
when the guy told me that i did not pass the test, a sense of deja vu came and i recalled last year's practical test... when i only passed after failing twice before... does this mean that i am a hazard to myself and others on the road then?
really, i feel like smacking myself... and i was sooo embarrassed as well... cos it was such an easy test, it was more like commonsense... now i have to wait another 2 more years before getting a full license...
finally, CX and XY got married yesterday on 命中... i was really touched and they actually looked so cute together... too bad we all know it's not real... i laughed till i had tears when they were dancing in the church... it was HILARIOUS... can't wait for the dvd to be out...

北京奥运会2008
since uncle and auntie left, i have been at home mostly alone, doing my stuff, whenever i like... i enjoy these periods of freedom sometimes... cos i get to do stuff i want to do whenever i want to... anyway, my thesis is slowly coming along, hopefully... and knowing that the conference is like less than a month away, i really have to start working on the poster... today went to the DFO outlet, hoping to get a blazer to wear at the conference... and finally after trying on so many, i finally found one selling at a discounted price of $40, and when i got home, i peeled off the tag and guess what, the original price of the blazer was $160!!! i was so pleased with myself... and it was not easy looking for one which was comfortable and at the same time, looked flattering...
since the start of the olympics... the 3 of us have been following the games every day, especially the swimming and the gymnastics... i have to say, this was the first time i am even watching the games... i don't think i have even bothered following the games all these years... and suddenly, we started watching and now it's kind of like the daily routine for us every night... and i am actually getting to know some of the "famous" names in swimming... like Michael Phelps... before this, if you say Michael Phelps... all you will get from me is a blank look... haha... who??
and i actually think having the olympics in china was a good thing... cos up till now, alot of people still are unaware of chinese culture, even not having a good perception of the chinese, but now, bcos of the olympics, i think the world will have a different view of the chinese now...
although i was quite upset that the chinese girl was not even the girl singing during the opening ceremony and some of the fireworks were fake... felt cheated man...

八月已到。。。
if you have not already realised, under my avid bloggers, there are only 3 people... 3!!! nobody i know is blogging these days... it's very sad... i actually think blogging is kind of a way where i am able to go back to the previous years and look at what i was doing then... so anyway, i will continue to blog, but nothing have been really exciting lately... except august is here, which means yours truly's bday is coming, which means my conference is coming (save me!!!), which means i am about to graduate soon like in 4 months' time, i think this coming 4 months is going to be one of the most stressful period of my life...
i was really envious when i saw the picture that huimin emailed with the 3 of them wearing their graduation gowns... but thinking about that makes me worried as well... cos i dun know how i am going to handle the working life... that will be a whole new challenge... everyone around me has already started working... half of me wants to quickly finish studying and join the working people... but the other half of me still prefer to study... bcos i can still slack sometimes...
anyway, the only exciting thing was i went to watch the dark knight with prisy and family yesterday... i thought the fighting scenes were good and the joker was really creepy... heath ledger really played the role well...
on another note... i am still waiting to watch 命中 every week... now it's been confirmed that there will be 24 episodes and the show will end on the 24 aug... it's going to kill me... seriously...

头痛哦。。。
Crap!!! i can't believe it's the first day of august already??!! the conference is like a month away... and i am still stuck in the dilemma of deciding on what data i want to focus on for my study... spoke to my supervisor and the thing is... i wanted to do this part but she wanted to focus on another aspect... i think at this point, i just want to be a slacker and take the easy way out, anything that will allow me to finish this asap and get me good marks, i will be very happy...
nothing much other than doing my research and waiting for the show every week... the suspense is killing me and now bcos of the good ratings last sunday, they have decided to extend the show by another week again... and it's been so cold these few days, and raining... the good thing about this whole year is that i don't have to wake up so early every day to go uni... haha...
michelle came back from overseas that day and bought chocolates, they were more like biscuits actually, for us... and she was telling us all about her adventures and the nice places that she went to... i was so envious... when will i be able to travel as well??
and this week, we had to go to uni for the placement briefing... thursday was such a long and tiring day... but i thought some of the stuff that they talked about was quite useful... about looking for jobs and writing resumes... the only thing is, i will be doing my placement only in nov (hopefully) and everyone will be finished by then... how annoying... and also bcos i am an international student, i can't apply for the hospital jobs until i have got my PR ... so i am so at a disadvantage ... and apparently we can't work as a full-fledged OT until we have gotten out transcripts, and that will only be out in dec... so i dunno... but after the briefing, karen came up with this spur of the moment idea that the 3 of us go karaoke, since we have not been for awhile... so in the end, amelia drove and we sang till 10pm... i was exhausted by then... i just want to go sleep by the time i got home... the good thing about going with them is i sang all the songs that i wanted to sing, even got to sing the "命中” songs...
today was another session where the uni invited OTs from different areas to come speak to us and answer our enquiries... it was really useful actually... after that, decided to go have lunch, since we won't be seeing each other for awhile... went to the same vietnamese place at lidcombe again... and this time, i quite liked the dish i ordered... it was chicken and crispy noodle... not bad... it was good to be able to catch up with everyone... still thinking whether to attend the grad ball cos it's very expensive... it's going to cost me around $120 at least and plus, i don't have anything nice to wear and then have to spend money to buy... alamak, so "麻烦”

真笨!
just a minute ago, i was looking through my previous july 2007 posts, and guess what... exactly on the same date that i posted my latest blog, 23 july 2008, i found myself complaining about having to wait impatiently every week for the show, huan huan ai, on the blog post on 23 july 2007... crap, some things never change and i never learn my lesson... stupid andrea...
救命啊!!
i am so screwed... i am soooo unmotivated at the moment to do the honours stuff, it's not funny... how... i just can't seem to focus and i always find myself procrastinating since last week... and then that day when i went back to uni, saw anna and she was freaking out about finishing her honours thing by september... and she made me panic as well... but everytime i tell myself that i am going to do this by this time, i end up not doing it at all... help!!! and my dear supervisor is not helping at all, she actually did not turn up for the meeting today, i called her twice, and she did not answer, totally wasting my time and money, travelling all the way to uni and it was so cold today... i should not have agreed to attend the conference...
anyway, enough complaining... hopefully, the feeling of motivation will come to me soon, like really soon, cos i don't want to be behind everyone else when uni starts next week... brought auntie and uncle to auburn rsl that day to eat the buffet lunch... whoa, everywhere you turn, you see asians and all i can hear are people speaking in cantonese... i ate till i was so full i did not even eat dinner that night... the group of old people next to us, were eating when we arrived and were still going when we left... the 3 of us were like surrendering already... but it's really worth it for a buffet, $12... but the food was only ok... nothing fantastic...
did i mention that woolies had a makeover? now we have self checkouts and new look for the store... and apparently they only allow the permanent staff to undergo training for the self checkouts, which meant that andrea only can man either the big registers or the express... and some people asked me how i felt about having my job taken over by the self serve...
and i went to cut my hair at this korean hairdresser at west ryde, anna recommended it... the price was quite reasonable, and i did not really cut much, just trimmed only, cos the last time i cut my hair was in feb, so i thought i should have one... the only problem was that the hairdressers there all speak only korean and i could not understand them and she could not understand what i wanted... but she was really nice and pretty... haha... i think if i go back next time, i will have to bring a picture of the hairstyle i want so it is easier...
and lastly... i finally could not resist the temptation to watch the 命中注定我爱你。。。 so i stayed up to download the show from youtube... i can't believe myself... i have been resisting the urge to watch it since april... and i knew it, once i started watching it, i could not stop, and now all i can think of is the show and the stupid thing is... they keep dragging the show... i just want to quickly watch the ending and then maybe i won't be so addicted anymore... the show is quite sad actually... and sometimes, while watching ethan ruan, i can't help but think of hana kimi when he was 'shen le'... haha... and now bcos of this show... he became so popular... and people kept saying he looks like 'ming dao'... i think he also looks abit like 'peng yuyan'... and also, people kept comparing who's cuter: ethan ruan or 陈楚河?? personally, i think ethan ruan is cuter, cos 陈楚河 is the type who only looks cute when you see him from afar, but if you see him up close, he is not cute... AND i think he looks like show luo, whom i absolutely dislike... so my vote goes to 阮经天。。。
see what i mean??!! i can't concentrate on my stuff at all... all i can think of is the show...

无聊。。。
last week...
auntie and uncle had guests over from singapore, so i was moved into the study room... nothing much happening... watched alot of movies actually... and the movie that i have been wanting to watch for awhile, outbreak... prisy managed to find it at blockbuster... i was really excited... it has got to be one of my all time fav movie...
went to uni that day to meet my supervisor... i am now at the analysis stage of my project... hopefully i am on track and not behind... have to quickly decide on the themes that i want to focus on so that i can work on the poster presentation for the conference in september...
went to ceci on saturday after the IELTS test... so finally last sat was the test, and it was supposed to begin at 830am, and the paper said to arrive at 8am, so i was there at like 730am and guess what, i was the first one at the test venue and i had to wait like 2 whole hours for everyone and for the test to actually start... and i did not sleep well the previous night and i had a really bad headache throughout the paper... thank god, it did not require to think much... it was quite easy, basic reading, listening and writing test... and after that, i was informed that the speakign test was at 5pm, i was like no way i am going to wait around for 4 hours... so i decided to go home and sleep... and hopefully my headache will go away... so i went home, slept for awhile and went back for the speaking test... and coincidentally, one of the topics was on gardens, so i talked about the hunter valley gardens which we went that day... and there were other topics like asking me about my home country, my fav stuff there, which i said the food, and about my chinese name??!! it was really abstract and random stuff...
and prisy told me that when she sat for the test previously, they asked her what her fav disney character was??!! haha...
anyway, went to ceci for dinner after that, bcos apparently the guest auntie loves korean food... and guess who i saw there... sally... not that we were close or anything before, but i was really surprised to see her, bcos i thought she graduated and went back to singapore... actually she was the one who called me, and it took me awhile to register her face and name... cos she cut her hair... i thought she looked nice now though... anyway, yeah, which made me think of huilin... i totally lost contact with her since like last year...
the fated to love you show is killing me!! now it's confirmed that they have extended the show to 22 episodes... just end it already... it's really hilarious though, and i am really controlling the temptation to watch... i only restrict myself to watching only bits and pieces, otherwise i will definitely be hooked and have to wait like a whole month for the show to finish... i wish the dvd would come out and then i can just watch it properly...
and i finally learnt how to use chinese... thanks to silvana... shall take up the challenge to type in chinese soon...
auntie and uncle had guests over from singapore, so i was moved into the study room... nothing much happening... watched alot of movies actually... and the movie that i have been wanting to watch for awhile, outbreak... prisy managed to find it at blockbuster... i was really excited... it has got to be one of my all time fav movie...
went to uni that day to meet my supervisor... i am now at the analysis stage of my project... hopefully i am on track and not behind... have to quickly decide on the themes that i want to focus on so that i can work on the poster presentation for the conference in september...
went to ceci on saturday after the IELTS test... so finally last sat was the test, and it was supposed to begin at 830am, and the paper said to arrive at 8am, so i was there at like 730am and guess what, i was the first one at the test venue and i had to wait like 2 whole hours for everyone and for the test to actually start... and i did not sleep well the previous night and i had a really bad headache throughout the paper... thank god, it did not require to think much... it was quite easy, basic reading, listening and writing test... and after that, i was informed that the speakign test was at 5pm, i was like no way i am going to wait around for 4 hours... so i decided to go home and sleep... and hopefully my headache will go away... so i went home, slept for awhile and went back for the speaking test... and coincidentally, one of the topics was on gardens, so i talked about the hunter valley gardens which we went that day... and there were other topics like asking me about my home country, my fav stuff there, which i said the food, and about my chinese name??!! it was really abstract and random stuff...
and prisy told me that when she sat for the test previously, they asked her what her fav disney character was??!! haha...
anyway, went to ceci for dinner after that, bcos apparently the guest auntie loves korean food... and guess who i saw there... sally... not that we were close or anything before, but i was really surprised to see her, bcos i thought she graduated and went back to singapore... actually she was the one who called me, and it took me awhile to register her face and name... cos she cut her hair... i thought she looked nice now though... anyway, yeah, which made me think of huilin... i totally lost contact with her since like last year...

GoOdBye...
on the 5th july, the "berala" chapter of my life is officially closed... i was quite upset initially when the time came for them to leave but i guess, there is always this chinese saying of 天下 沒有 不 散 的 宴席...
so i guess it's time for me to say goodbye...
i will always treasure the memories of the times we spent together...
thank you...

HUnTer vaLLey gaRdens...
went to the hunter valley gardens with silvana on wednesday... we were thinking of whether to go or not cos initially, we wanted to catch public transport, but it takes 4 hours train and bus to get there, and then we thought of driving and trying to get more people to come so we can share petrol but people backed out on us, so in the end, we figured that even though it's just the both of us, it will still be cheaper than catching the public transport... but of course, have to drive all the way and back myself... so we planned to have 'pit-stops' along the way...
we set off at 630am and stopped at this town called brooklyn... a coastal small village, and there is a train station there called hawkesbury river... hanged around there for abit, and decided to drive straight to the gardens cos it will take ard an hour and a half to get there... but on the way, we saw the big M sign and I had to go in and have breakfast... haha... too bad it was still breakfast, i would have preferred to eat the chicken fillet burger and fries... after filling our stomachs, we continued on our journey... drove straight to the gardens after... arrived there around 10am... bcos it was a weekday, there was not many people, which was good... the garden was really pretty... the only thing was that bcos it was winter, alot of the trees were bare, but other than that, i think it was worth the trip... the garden was divided into different themes, will post some pics soon... the hightlight of the garden was definitely the storybook garden, silvana was so excited about the storybook garden...
after the gardens, we went to the village, where they have like little shops selling candles, confectionary, cafes, christmas ornaments... and after that, we decided to stop by the entrance, i dunno really know why it was called the entrance, but it is like a coastal town, and the highlight is pelican feeding, but we missed the feeding time... we actually wanted to go see the giant chessboard, which was also one of the highlights of the town, but when we got there, we looked all over the place, but could not see the chessboard... and in the end, we found out that the so-called "giant chessboard" was so tiny and they kept the chess pieces bcos of the strong winds... we were so disappointed... we walked for abit and drove back...
all in all, i was quite happy with our decision to go on this roadtrip, even though it was just the 2 of us, and we were both debating on whether to go or not...

VEry SLaCk...
thursday... went to silvana's house to hang out after my interview... she cooked chicken rice with the premix that her parents brought from singapore and we watched kungfu dunk and ate at the same time... the show was quite stupid really... like it's those stupid funny comedies... preferred the secret movie actually...
sat and sun... i was working long shifts that weekend... and i seriously dun understand why some people insist on doing stupid things... one... people who don't put their fruits into the bags provided and i have to manually put them two by two onto the weighing machine instead of being able to grab the whole bag which is alot faster...
two... stupid people who stick the reduced to clear stickers onto the barcode and i have to scratch like hell to take them out... and there's like a long queue waiting and i can practically feel everybody who is in the queue drilling holes into me, wondering when i will get the sticker out... like they want us to be fast and efficient, but how to when some people insist on making our lives miserable??!!
started watching this korean series called couple or trouble... which prisy's friend lent to her... it's quite nice and funny... and apparently it's won lots of awards...
went to silvana's house again on monday to do baking and watched CJ7... we baked cheesesticks and brownies... same old same old... was planning to bake something else but we were both quite full and in the end, just those... silvana gave me a short tour of auburn, where they used to go do their grocery shopping... lots of lebanese people... we ended up having this lebanese bbq thing for lunch, which i did not really like... but we walked past this chinese bakery shop and i bought the "bo luo bao"... it was really yummy...
went to the movies with prisy to watch the incredible hulk... i did not watch the one with eric banner, but everybody said this one is much better than the first one... and i really liked it... although it was really weird seeing edward norton play the hulk... cos he is really scrawny... and at the end, robert downey jr (who was ironman) came and both of us think that they are making a movie with a showdown between the two superheroes...

MoNday: this one was more of an impromptu one... cos zz is going back on wed so we decided to go on another road trip... this time to wollongong... and wanru said it sounded like "wulong de gong gong" haha... i actually got the joke...
anyway, started our journey to cronulla beach... and it was really nice cos it was a monday and not many people at the beach... but there were some surfers... and people were doing their morning stroll... jo came along to join us... and then we headed down to stanwell park and this lookout place called bald hill lookout... this time jo drove and i could admire the scenery along the way... it was freezing at the bald hill lookout but the view was really good... could see the seacliff bridge from there... which was our next destination... the seacliff bridge... along the grand pacific drive... went there two years ago with uncle et al during easter... but when we went there yesterday, there were practically nobody and we kind of had the whole bridge to ourselves... and according to silvana, it was the migrating season for the whales, so we were all lookint out for them, and i saw 2... really briefly and far away... and only like their tail and the puffs of air that comes out when they exhale were visible... but it was so exciting... walked along the bridge for awhile and there was this public toilet there that was automated... the doors, the toilet paper, the flush and the water to wash your hands... it was really cool, i should have taken a picture... damn...
next, we headed down to this place called austinmer, walked along the beach for awhile, ate ice cream... and then to the next suburb called thirroul... nothing much, just shophouses... did not stay for long there, headed down to wollongong next... it is exactly like sydney, went to the info centre to find out where are the attractions... and bcos we did not have much time left, we only visited the beach, and the two lighthouses... and the lagoon nearby... and then we decided to go to the mall to have some food... on the way back, cos wollongong was not the street directory, and the GPS had no signal for awhile... we were driving blindly for awhile and almost got into trouble... thank goodness nothing happened... dropped jo off at her house and then i dropped the rest back home...
i think these 3 days auris and i have been the furthest in nsw... since i came... it was a good experience, but the only thing was auris got really dirty... both in and out... and i can't believe zz is going back tomorrow... i am going to miss them... will post some pics soon...

SatuRday: zz wanted to go to these markets... and we almost got lost on the way to the first market at boot hill... cos the directions were not clear... it was really like a garage sale, where people just come and set up their stalls on the grounds... i was done within half and hour and had to wait for the rest... i was not really into these sort of markets... after that, we headed to another market but could not locate the place so zz said to just go to the next one at camden... the drive there was really nice and camden was really pretty... cos it looked like it was at the bottom of the mountains and the air was really fresh... i preferred the market there... bought a candle holder for annie to thank her for helping me recruit... we were there for quite awhile... cos it was more of an arts and crafts market... after that, we headed to picton... another historical town and dropped into the information centre to check out where are the attractions... and for some reason, my GPS took me on this really windy and narrow road to picton, and i was so scared driving on that road cos i could not see oncoming traffic, but luckily, there were not many cars...
the person at the info centre recommended we take these 2 scenic drives... one was to go look at the nepean dam and the other to this lookout place... the nepean dam was really nice... but we were freezing even though the sky has finally cleared and it was bright and sunny that day... and we were the only ones there... after that, we drove to the other scenic route to the lookout... and it was quite far away from picton and for awhile, we had no idea if we were going in the right direction... but the scenery was really nice... and there were not many cars as well... when we finally got to the lookout, it was really pretty but cold... and i wished that the trees were not blocking the scenery... the drive back down was equally pretty...
we decided to have dinner at strathfield ceci... and bcos we got there quite early... there was no queue and we were starving... but when we were driving out of the carpark, silvana lost the parking ticket and we were like stopped there for 10 mins trying to find the ticket... in the end, the person was kind enough to allow us to pass through otherwise we would have to pay the fine for losing the ticket... and then when driving out of the carpark, the GPS said to turn right, and i did not pay attention and did not realise that it was only a one way road... cars started to honk at me when i turned right... i got such a bad scare... which i guess was partly my fault, i should have paid attention to the road and not be too reliant on the GPS... cos it did a few mistakes in the past already... that was really scary... dropped them back at berala and headed home after... was really tired... luckily only working at night on sunday...
and auris was so filthy after the road trip cos it was raining for the past few days and i have not washed it for like 3 weeks...

went on a road trip with zz, silvana and wanru on friday, sat and monday...
FRiday: the weather on friday was really shitty, started to rain when we were starting on our journey, our first pit stop was this 'little sleepy town' called Pitt town... when people say 'little sleepy town', it means nothing to see... which was exactly what pitt town was, nothing much except this row of shops and farms... and it was raining so heavily, that we could not get down to walk and explore the area... so we just drove around the town for abit... saw huge lands, and alot of vegetable farms... then we proceeded to windsor... more shops to see and the rain had stopped for abit... walked around the area, took pics... then drove to tizzana winery which was along the hawkesbury river... when we got there, the man introduced and allowed to sample some of their wines... and bcos i was the only driver, i could not drink and could only watch them drink... but i bought a bottle of wine... along the way, we saw lots of animals... like horses, cows, sheeps, and we even saw alpacas... then we stopped for abit at this church nearby that was supposedly the oldest presbyterian church in australia... then we proceeded to richmond... the weather cleared up abit, and so we decided to stop by the penrith valley orange farm to pick oranges... then we went on to erniskillen orchard... well all i can say was the picture in the brochure looked nicer than it really was... but the scenery was nice though... then we drove back to richmond, and ate dinner there before heading back to berala where i stayed over for the night...
silvana and i watched the movie the forbidden kingdom, and i was so looking forward to the movie... and my advice to those who have not seen it... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME... it was so stupid... i thought it would be like an action chinese movie bcos both jackie chan and jet li were in the movie... but they made it in english... and they even had the chinese wise men speaking in english... which was so ridiculous... and it had no plot at all...

FReeziNg...
this whole week has been quite uninteresting... it's still raining almost every day and so cold... it's like 10 degrees at night... anyway, euro 2008 is here... and i am so upset that i could not watch the matches, cos they are all either really early in the morning or they are not shown on tv here, cos football is not a popular sport here... i went to look up on the champions of the previous euro 2004 and found out it was greece, and remembered watching most of the matches in singapore, even waking up in the morning just to catch the live matches...
i am confirmed going to melbourne... booked the tickets already... and realised that i should not have booked the tickets so early... cos i will have problems getting to the airport, cos auntie and uncle and michelle will not be here too... alamak... so stupid, i should have thought about it before booking... and now cannot change already...
nothing else, not very happening at the moment... oh, might be going on a roadtrip with zz and the girls this week... but dunno where yet... hopefully the weather will clear up and not too cold...

MY FinGeRs ARe crAmPing...
i have been thinking about this since monday... it's about work... for some reason, i was actually glad to see L at work yesterday when she came in... and i kept thinking to myself... how really weird is that... cos as some of you might know, she was like my number 1 hated person in woolies at that time... i called her the evil woman... recall previous posts... and now... she's like of the few people at woolies who i actually like and get along with... to me, that's just really weird and i just have to vent a little...
anyway... went to karaoke again... on sunday with the girls... cos joan was leaving and they decided to go sing for one last time... too bad we did not get to sing for the whole day... well... wanru's got some really incriminating videos of us singing the group songs... and this particular song called 'ben xiao hai' was stuck in my head since that day... i had fun... going to karaoke with them is always fun cos they are simply hilarious... with their actions to the songs...
this week is going to be boring week again... cos i have like heaps of interviews waiting to be transcibed and analysed... why can't somebody invent a machine that can type the words out as they are spoken?? that will definitely make my life much more easier...

JuNe ALreAdy...
the korean bbq was a success... although not everyone came, but I really enjoyed myself, eating and chatting... i dunno really know why anna said it changed owners but everything seemed the same to me... the food, the layout... the only things that was sucky was the way there and back, missed a turn and missed the turn into the restaurant, had to do some illegal uvees... and on the way back, got honked at by this idiot... and of course, having to smell like bbq for the whole night and the next day... even after showering... prisy came into the room and was like, oh man, you room smells like the 'zhu rou gan'... haha...
heard back from the OT conference, did not get to do an oral paper... was asked to do a poster instead... did not want to do it initially cos it's so expensive... but my supervisor and everyone was telling me that it's a good opportunity so i guess i am going after all... it's in melbourne in september...
went to berala that day and had steamboat with the girls... it was a cold and wet day... so it was nice to have steamboat... chatted and ate alot... can't believe that they have been here for a year already and about to go back soon... i will miss them... cos i could always count on them to understand my singlish sometimes and speak chinese with me... and go karaoke...
watched enchanted that day... i quite liked it... really cheesy but james marsden's character is just hilarious... and secret... by jay chou... it started off really slow at the beginning, and the stupid disc kept pausing and repeating... but it's not bad... quite sad actually...

INdesCriBLebLE...
today was a really exciting day for me... dun think i have been this excited for awhile... number 1) Our Hep C article which we wrote last year as part of the OTTP subject got published in the Hep C Review magazine... really really excited and happy cos it showed that the hard work and effort that we put into that article was not wasted... and not to mention it will be good for the portfolio... i am really thrilled... cannot describe the excitement and joy at seeing my name published... although it's not really a formal formal magazine, but still seeing your name on a published material is really really exciting...
Number 2) bcos we will be having our korean bbq gathering tonight... hopefully the rain will hold up cos the weather this week is really wet and cold...
definitely a good day...

BuSYyy...
i was so bored that day doing the research that i went to look around on this website... and found this new jap drama called absolute boyfriend... and guess what... the lead character is this really cute guy which i liked from gokusen 2... hayami mocomichi!!! haha... wonder how many how many episodes there are in the show... watched rogue assasin that day and the show was ok... prefer jet li to act in chinese martial arts shows more cos he actually has kungfu stunts in those shows but in the english shows, he used guns and swords... not much kungfu stunts... heard that the show fated to love you is really nice, i am so waiting for the show to end... so hard to resist the temptation...
wednesday we drove up to blue mountains wentworth falls for the interview... the drive there took about an hour and a half... the air is really fresh but nothing really much to see... trees and more trees... and speaking of interviews... i have like 6 people participating in the study... which is really good compared to the one i have last week... and it's all thanks to our coordinator... she helped me to recruit... i really have to thank her cos she really helped me alot and she did not have to do it... in fact i think she's done more for me than my supervisor...
anyway, after driving back from the blue mountains, prisy and i decided to go karaoke in the city... haha and the only thing was it started to rain when we arrived... so it was really cold as well... but it was nice... but it was weird how i used to have endless songs to sing before but now i seemed to have so few songs and prisy has more songs than me...

WeEk 12 ALreADy...
auntie and uncle are back from singapore... appareantly it was really hot over there...
the week following camp... nothing much except same old boring stuff again, but finally out of the 20 emails that i have sent... one person emailed and said she would like to participate in the study... seriously... why can't more people be like this lady? it's only a miserable hour out of their schedule... not like i am asking them to give me half their days... and plus, i am going to them so they dun even have to travel...
went to uni on thursday... met up with zz... had lunch and went to do our stuff in the library... the plan initially was to go hang out at their house and watch movie... but they were all busy with their assignments... and saw my supervisor on my way to the library... and she asked me if i could wait for her till 4pm cos she wanted to catch up... 4pm went and passed and it was like 430pm and she still has not msged me... so i decided to go look for her... and if she was not there, i am leaving... when i went to her office, she was there and we went through my draft writing and talked abt the camp... and the interview on wednesday... we left ard 5pm and went to zz's house... watched stardust (i think this must be my 3rd time) with silvana... actually quite liked the show... had dinner with the girls... felt paiseh cos they were all busy doing their assignments... their lives are so much more exciting and happening than mine... sigh... wished i could travel ard like them... oh and we finally caught up on our backlog of csi and medium...

NErD cAmp PARt 2...
Oops... accidentally pressed the post button...
anyway, it was really nice scenery once you get up there... but nothing really much to do at night... so we had dinner and played some board games like balderdash and taboo... and the bed was alright, they provided us with 2 blankets, but the pillow was so flat, it was literally non-existent... i could not sleep for the first night and plus, it was a double bed and the person sleeping above me kept tossing and turning and the whole bed kept shaking... it was horrible...
The next day, it was a full day from 10am-6pm... my brain felt like all the brain cells were dead and i had such a bad headache at the end of the day... and the food was bad... and cos i helped to prepare dinner... which was a bbq... i was assigned to cut the onions... i was like shit i have never cut onions before and i dunno how... and this girl was like oh just cut them into rings will do... crap, i dun even know how to do that... so i just did what i thought was supposed to be right... and thankfully, it still came out okay... and tears were like flowing from my eyes... the food also sucked... after dinner, we had dessert and we played uno and bluff and poker... but after awhile, i went to bed... it was too much for my brain... the second night seemed better and bcos there were 6 of us sharing a room, the rest woke up so early, like 730am and i had to wake up too cos of all the talking and moving around...
the second day was not as draining but it was so boring... and i had to do my little presentation on qual analysis... i honestly think that the camp is not productive for me at all... cos i dun have my materials and my own environment... so really i did not do much writing... and most of the girls also thought so... but when we mentioned to annie about maybe instead of having a camp, just do like a whole day at uni, where we dun have to sleep over... she did not look too happy... anna and i both agree that the most productive thing to do next semester was instead of having tutorials every week, we should just have individual consultations... i think that would be much more helpful...
it was good to be back after two days of being in the middle of nowhere and be among civilisation again... and of couse, sleeping in my own bed, with no one moving the bed the entire night...

I decided to recount the entire 3 days 2 nights camp that was like a nightmare from hell...
okay, left home on sunday afternoon to meet up with anna at west ryde cos initially the plan was to catch public transport to church point wharf... but anna said she would drive instead, so i caught a lift from her... and at west ryde woolies, i went to get all the foodstuff that i was assigned to bring... which was 2l of milk, 2l of tomato sauce and 4 humongous onions... so i was lugging like 5kg on each hand... 5kg of food, another 5 kg in my bag cos of the laptop... remind me never to bring my laptop anywhere ever!!! and a bagpack...
on the way there... we almost overshot my destination cos when we passed the marina and went further away from the water into the forest, both of us were like okay we better pull over and see where we were... and true enough, we passed the marina and was driving into the national park... so we had to reverse and drive back down... and the journey there took us about an hour... and bcos the parking there had to pay... anna parked like on the roadside which was a 10 min walk from the wharf... my hands were red already from carrying the food and my bag from the car to the wharf... got onto the ferry, when we arrived at Hall's wharf where the hostel was, it was like pure hell... we had to climb uphill for like half an hour before arriving at the hostel... i almost died on the way up... i was really exhausted from carrying all those heavy stuff... i was really tempted to just dump the food bag... i swore never to go there again!!!

PAiN in tHe A**...
on wednesday, it was a rather routine day for me... doing my research stuff at home and then ard 5pm, got a call from michelle and prisy asking if i want to join them for dinner and movie... i was like hesitant cos it was getting late and the movie was like at 9pm... but somehow, i got persuaded to go anyway... we drove to the city and had dinner at this rather posh place called Alio... where apparently, they have hand-made pasta... and in the car, michelle was like telling us how nice and yummy the food there was... at the place, i had a look at the menu and could not understand what it was talking about... anyway, the food were all given some very fancy names... so prisy recommended that i order the gnocchi... which is like some potato thing stuffed with cheese, i think... i did not really like it in the end, cos there was a strange taste which michelle said was the cheese... anyway, i was so full after cos i had a late lunch that day...
after dinner, went to watch iron man at the ritz... which is like this olden days movie theatre, where we went to watch beowulf that time... but the theatre that we went to was really nice... felt like i was going to watch a concert rather than a movie... and the movie was nice than i thought... really cool technology... and it was funny as well... i would give it 8/10...
anyway, break time over... back to boring stuff again... i was browsing through this article talking about doing research and something said in the article really had a deep impression on me... it went something like doing research can be hard work at times, even though you are doing something not related to your research or trying to relax... you always have the research at the back of your head... no matter what you do, it is like a cloud hanging over, so you can't truly relax and not think abt it...
which i thought is so true of what is going on for me now... even though say i am watching tv or doing something else, there is always the thought of the research at the back of my head... and it's already may, and i still have not started data collection... how...

SUn dAy ouT...
on sunday, in order to fulfil the girly theme, i asked prisy to put make up for me... and after that, caught a train to the city and met up with the girls... when i saw them, my first thought was wow... they all wore something different than what they usually wore... and then we headed to my fav korean spicy beef place to have lunch... we ended up all ordering from the korean stall... hmm... the spicy beef with rice is still so yummy... and after lunch, wanru whipped out these pieces of paper with cupcakes and dung drawn on them... and then she explained the rules of the voting game that they thought up... so we each had to give the cupcake to the person who we thought exceeded our expectations in terms of the way she was dressed and the effort she put in... and the dung to the person whom we thought could improve further... well... thanks to prisy's skills... i got two cupcakes and a cowdung...
after our voting game, we proceeded to big echo... and for some reason, we had 7 people so we could actually sing for the whole day but they refused to let us... so we could only sing for 3 hours... which i thought was bullshit... and the room that they gave us was shit man... looking at the seats made me think of amelia... cos she would refuse to sit on the seats that had patches... it was quite funny... i think we all had fun singing our hearts out... going karaoke with the girls are very 'energising' as they would actually stand and dance to their fav songs... and not just sit there passively and sing... haha... too bad i had to leave early for work... hopefully we could all go again and we will get to sing for the whole day next time...
and on the train, i had a nap and cos i did not have a mirror on me, i did not realise that the eyeliner had smudged the whole bottom part of my eyes... and i walked all the way to work and through woolies and only when i got to the washroom, looked into the mirror and went oh crap...

Out WiTH tHe oLD, in wiTh ThE nEw...
one week now, and i am still waiting for the people to email me saying that they are interested in participating in my study... alamak... starting to panic... what if I don't any replies back??!! (deep breaths andrea...)
last weekend, when i went to work, found out that our top 2 supervisors are leaving permanently... not that i "bu she de", it's just that they have been there since i started... and now more new faces in the store than "old" faces...
prisy came back early from work that day... and we drove to rouse hill... just the two of us... i like the drive there bcos the air is so refreshing and you can admire the houses and not much traffic... like going on a mini road trip... went to the city to get the digital voice recorder for my interviews... quite cool, works like an mp3 player... but this can only record voices... went to uni yesterday for tutorial... got back the feedback for my presentation... and one of the things i got marked down for was bcos i wore trackshoes... apparently it was not formal enough... i was quite annoyed... it was not even like a formal presenation anyways... and after that, went to zhenzhen's surprise party... ate cake that silvana baked... two actually... then had dinner and chatted... quite looking forward to this sunday... hmm... girly theme huh??

HeLLo MAy...
the next day after uncle and auntie left for singapore... the green car cannot start and we had to call the insurance company to come change the battery... and we were saying how things always are breaking down on us when uncle go away... cos the last time this happened, it was also when they left...
went to lunch with amelia at the korean place at epping... i did not really like the food, it was like soup and vegetables more than anything else... and it is quite expensive... still thought that we have finally found a nice korean place to eat rather than having to go all the way to strathfield... but ceci's still better... and then went to service my car... apparently i was a month late and they rang me to inform me that i have to bring in my car for service... had to wait for like 2 hours, so i decided to catch a train down to hornsby rather than just sit there and wait... and the service was really expensive... imagine me having to pay over $200 every 6 months...
went to uni on thursday for tutorial and to meet up with my supervisor... we finally were given the green light to start recruiting the participants for the study... so i have already emailed them and hopefully they will reply within the next few days... and i also have to go get the equipment... hopefully i will get 10 people to participate... cross my fingers...
been watching this anime called vandread... it was actually not bad... the fighting scenes were cool and it's like transformers... and a few other movies... like doom, alien vs predator 2 , resident evil 2, arthur and the invisibles... and amelia lent me a few shows as well... but they are all quite old... will have to control myself...

EVentFuL Week...
zhenzhen and chunyi came to sleep over that day cos they were planning to go to the central coast the next day... so they came and met me at woolies and went back home together... watched miss potter with them... on hindsight, i never would have dreamed that they would actually be here in woolies... it's just really weird... and on tuesday, i went to sleep over at their place cos it was quite late after dinner so stayed over for a night... it was nice, just hanging out, having dinner, catching up with them, cos they are going back soon and i have not really seen them since uni started... had wraps and pumpkin soup for dinner and bavarian for dessert... i was so full that night...
went to uni on thursday... planning to organise a farewell party for them sometime in june... saw some people whom i have not seen or spoken to for awhile... and i am still waiting for ethics to get back to me... and in the meantime, i am planning to invest in a good gps... i think it would really make my life easier...
it was the anzac day holiday on friday but i was not rostered for work... so prisy and i initially planned to go to the city for karaoke after facial... so we went for an early morning facial and we found out that alot of the road in the city were closed for the anzac day march, so thank god we checked before going... so in the end, we went to strathfield for lunch... hmm... ceci's korean food... and it was raining quite heavily that day... a nice day to stay in and have some hot and spicy food... the facial lady actually recommended a new korean place at epping where she said that the food is not bad... but too bad it was closed that day... so in the end, after lunch, we just went back home... watched this new anime that prisy recommended... and we went for dinner... supposed to be a surprise dinner for one of my uncle and auntie's friends... the food was not too bad actually... the only thing was the steak... it is just my luck... of all the steaks, mine was the really bloody one. it was dripping with blood... i was so grossed out but i did not want to appear wasteful, so i just tried to ignore the blood and shoved it down... and we stayed at their place till quite late... i was really tired by then and cold...

RAiniNg All dAY...
nothing much happening this week... but it has been raining practically every day... and the weather is becoming cold as each day passed... did my pilot interview a few days ago, and i thought it went quite well... and I am not that pressured anymore... before, i was quite pressured cos everyone else has already started data collection... so hopefully, I can start the real interviews soon... still stuck trying to write the lit review... it is really hard... cos everytime, i have a different idea of what i think the focus of the research study is... and i keep changing the stuff i write...
anyway, i shall quit whining about this boring stuff...
bought a new external hard drive... was not planning to buy one, but after the advice and horror stories i heard from others, about losing their documents, i decided to invest in one... just for backup in case...
and i finally finished watching the anime... thank god... it's out of my system now...

ANime mAraThON...
went to the new shopping mall which just opened a few months ago at rouse hill... it's different from the usual malls in that it's open and not enclosed within air conditioned surroundings... and the drive there is quite scenic if you are driving during the day... cos you will get to see lots of nice mansions with huge spread of land... and if you are lucky that day, you can even see a few cows and horses along the way... sigh some of the houses there are really nice... with nice lawns... but maintenance will be a nightmare, but they probably are rich enough to hire professionals to do the job...
and these past few days, after prisy's constant nagging to watch another anime, we decided upon this really old (according to her) anime called fushigi yugi... and now... I am so addicted to the show it's not funny... and if you are a female, you can't not like tamahome, one of the anime characters... i have not read of anyone who does not like him... but the lead female anime character can be really annoying sometimes... and the guys in the anime all happened to like her... even though she is so annoying sometimes... but i have to say, i liked the show even though i have not finished the show and I read that it was going to be a sad ending... and i blame this all on prisy... she keeps asking me to watch these animes and then i get hooked on them and i can't concentrate on my work... prisy, it's all your fault!
